Take part in the Jump’EM equestrian competition

Jump’EM, an equestrian events association run by 11 students from EM Normandie, is organising a show-jumping competition on Ouistreham’s Riva-Bella beach from 3 to 5 May 2024. More than 3,000 people are expected to attend this unique equestrian competition over the three days, bringing together 350 amateur and preparatory riders on the D-Day landing beaches. The programme includes a horse show, games on foot, a partners’ village with areas dedicated to exhibitors and catering, and above all moments of exchange and sharing in an exceptional historical setting.

Jump’EM is an events association run by passionate students from EM Normandie’s Caen campus. Since its creation in 2017, it has organised an annual show jumping competition (CSO) on Ouistreham beach to highlight the equine industry, the Normandy region and its history closely linked to the D-Day landing beaches. The competition is recognised by the Fédération Française d’Equitation and features amateur and preparatory show jumping events ranging from 80 to 125 centimetres.

The event will take place from 3 to 5 May 2024 and will comprise several events:
– Friday from 11.30am to 4.30pm,
– Saturday from 13:00 to 18:00,
– Sunday from 14:00 to 19:00.

Plenty of activities to keep you entertained:
Activities will be on offer every day during the weekend of competition.

On Saturday, at 10.00 am, spectators will have the privilege of attending a free equestrian show performed by Elisa Laville, an official partner of Jump’EM. Her wide-ranging shows include demonstrations of liberty, poste hongroise, dexterity, acrobatics and garrocha, a choreography on horseback using a long pole. Photo shoots of the riders and their mounts will also be organised on the beach, subject to booking.
Families will be able to take advantage of a horse-riding discovery stand for children. An area for games on foot will be set up to entertain participants and visitors, from the most passionate to the simply curious: jumping obstacles on foot, reminiscent of the test of strength in equestrianism, which consists of clearing obstacles of increasing height. There will also be timed courses during which you will have to clear several types of obstacle. Skill and speed will be required to win prizes (horse accessories and riding lessons). On Sunday, an exclusive prize-giving ceremony for “the best rider” and “the fastest rider” over the 3 days will conclude this equestrian weekend.

A dynamic partners’ village:
The partners’ village will include catering stands and exhibitors from the equestrian world who have decided to support the Jump’EM project, such as Ekestre, which specialises in custom-designed aluminium equestrian fences and equipment, the Balzane saddlery, equipment for riders and horses (created by Florine Lefèbvre, a graduate of EM Normandie) and M’Alice, an artisan designer. EM Normandie and the EM Normandie Student Federation, which are sponsoring the event, will also have a stand on site to provide information to visitors.
